Rugby was first played in Ibiza by a group  immigrants from Argentina in the early 80´s who played friendly matches for a few years against a side in Majorca but the sport didn´t quite take off. In 2001, the sport was picked up by a Welshman and an Ibicencan and given another lease of life. The club grew from strength to strength and the wonderful facilities that the club now have, has been down to the hard work put in. In 2003 Ibiza held the final of the AER 6 Nations "C" between Israel, Bulgaria, Finland and Norway. In 2004 Spain played Portugal here in a 6 Nations "B" match. The annual international 15 a side tournament which started in 2003 has been a success with teams competing from the British Isles, Ireland, Italy, France and Germany.

Now the island is more of a rugby destination for end of season tours and pre-season matches than ever, whether it´s the 15 a side tournament or the beach rugby festival, Ibiza is for you!  Ibiza Sports Tours started as a specialist rugby tour operator so our passion and enthusiasm for the sport shows in every rugby tour we organize.  CIUDAD D´EIVISSA - IBIZA INTERNATIONAL RUGBY TOURNAMENT 2010

Our international 15 a side tournament is to be played on Saturday 15th of May.
The format of the competition is 6 teams, being drawn into 2 groups of  3 teams. They will play matches of  30 mins (15 mins each way), 2pts for a win, 1pt for a draw. The tournament is played in group format (groups A & B), with the winner of group A playing the winner of group B in the final and group A & B runners-up playing for 3rd place. The maximum number of games played per team will be 3.
The first 5 deposits recieved from teams will enter, as this competiton is very popular as an end of season tour.

IBIZA - INTERNATIONAL RUGBY TOURNAMENT 09 - Saturday 16th of May

This years tournament was won by Cheshunt RFC from Hertfordshire. The club from Hertfordshire played with as much enthusiasm on the pitch as they did in the bars of San Antonio which came as a surprise to the local side, as they thought that after 3 days and nights of ´exploring´the delights of the west end they would not be up to much. The English side who crowned off a fantastic season by being champions of Herts/Middlesex League 1, held out to win 24-17 with some great tackling in the last 10 minutes of the match.
