A brand new and exciting mens and womens tournament which is to be played on the beach of San Antonio, Ibiza. Beach rugby is a fast-moving, invasion game suitable for men and women of all ages to play. Sand, Sea & Sun all make a great combination to play rugby on one of the softest surfaces.

The interchangeable nature of possession, leading to rapid changes from attacking to defending, means that the game is developing and improving a wide range of skills.

Due to the nature of playing on sand there are some variances to the conventional game of rugby, beach rugby is fun, fast-paced and an exciting sport. We have got together with the local authorities of San Antonio to provide what promises to be one hell of a weekend!

All rugby tournaments on the island this coming season 2011/12 will be part of the 10th aniversary celebrations of Ibiza Club de Rugby and are expected to be very popular as end of season tours due to the large amount of publicity and invitations that will be delivered.

The tournament is a great advert for the game of football in Ibiza, which obviously, being played in a football dominated country, you can imagine how popular this event will be.

The ninth edition of next years tournament Ciutat d´Eivissa will see female participation for the first time. Due to the interest and demand of women´s teams we will be running a ladies competition paralell to that of the men´s tournament. We are looking forward to next May´s tournament more than ever! 

This years tournament was our most popular and probably the best edition to date with a record number of teams, and touring parties from 4 different countries. 

The format of the competition is 8 teams, (6 in the ladies competition) being drawn into 2 groups of  4. The teams will play matches of  15 mins, with 2pts for a win, 1pt for a draw. The tournament is played in group format (groups A & B), with the winner of group A playing the winner of group B in the final and group A & B runners-up playing for 3rd place. The teams that finish 3rd and 4th in the group stages will play the plate competition. The maximum number of games played per team throughout the day will be 5.
